Triss

your support as a ‘foster from afar’ will help change this sato mum’s life forever.

If Triss wasn’t such a good mom, we may never have been able to rescue her.

On New Year’s Eve, our rescue team was notifed of a young sato who had given birth in the woods. We went searching and found five tiny puppies in a small cave that had formed under the roots of a tree. We got on our hands and knees and pulled out each tiny puppy while their mum, Triss, watched nervously from afar. She was very frightened and too afraid to let our team get close. However, she did not let her fear get in the way of how much she loved her babies. Once we had all five of her puppies safely in a crate, we left the door open, gave Triss some space, and then took our own turn watching nervously from afar, with our fingers crossed. Thankfully, Triss slowly inched closer to her kids and entered the crate as well. Her love for her pups, saved her own life too.

After we brought the entire family into our care, Triss continued to be a doting and wonderful mother. Her puppies all grew up happy and healthy. They took their Freedom Flight in March and found forever families on the mainland. Triss would have gone with them, but she had to stay behind for some extra TLC. Like many satos who have faced abuse and lived hard lives in the streets, she needs more time to learn to trust us and become comfortable around humans.

Triss is currently staying with a foster family in Puerto Rico and making progress every day. However, she still has awhile to go before she will eligible for adoption. We are determined to give Triss all the time she needs for her to realize that she deserves to be loved too, just as much as she loved her babies.

But until then, Triss would love some virtual foster family support along her journey toward rehabilitation. In exchange for any gift of $24 or more, you’ll receive a special digital postcard and a link to download a printable, foldable card. You can print the postcard for yourself to show off your foster dog or give the greeting card to a loved one as a gift to let them know that a grateful sato was fostered in their honor. We’ll also keep you in the loop of Triss’ progress. Just like an in-person foster, you’ll be among the first to know when she finally completes her recovery, flies to a new family, and has all her dreams come true.
