Tobias

Tobias took his Freedom Flight on July 5th, 2020. Thank you to all of his Foster From Afar donors for helping us change his life forever.

As soon as we rescued Tobias, it was clear he had suffered abuse. He cowered when you came near and winced if a hand was raised. He curled up as if to make himself invisible. It was heartbreaking, but we knew there was a happy dog deep inside that we were determined to set free. Tobias spent a couple of months in our care, and did a full 180. He became a spunky, peppy pup who loved his foster mom Daphne, aka “La Nani”. He was proof that not all scars are visible and that, sometimes, rehabilitating a dog just takes patience and love.

Thanks to your support, we were able to match Tobias with the most understanding and patient couple who were ready to put in the work to earn his trust. His new dad works as a wildlife conservationist, so he figured, if I can get an elephant to trust me, I can handle a 20-lb terrier! The first few days at their home were touch and go, but by the end of the first week, Tobias was already confidently strutting his stuff down the street to the park and happily accepting belly rubs from his parents. His progress has been remarkable, and it’s clear that Tobias finally feels completely safe and loved for the first time in his life.
