Oceana

your support as a ‘foster from afar’ will help change this sato’s life forever.

Oceana was first seen in the streets during September of 2021. She showed up on a popular beach and wanted to play with the beachgoers’ other dogs. When beachgoers noticed that she was not with a human herself, they tried to catch her, thinking that she was perhaps an owned dog who had gotten lost. However, Oceana was too smart and got away. She kept showing up around the same neighborhood periodically, but each time it was in a different spot, making her movements hard to track.

Fortunately, a kind group of neighbors joined together in keeping their eyes out for her and shared updates whenever they saw her. The longer she lived in the streets, the more food motivated she became. Gradually, residents could get close enough to hand her a treat, but she was still impossible to catch.

Finally, after many failed attempts, one of our volunteers found her napping and was able to catch her with a net. After five months on the run, Oceana is finally safe. She was very scared at first, but has gradually learned that some humans can be trusted. Oceana is now completing her vetting protocols until she can fly to a forever family on the mainland. In the meantime, Oceana would love your support to help her continue getting the care she needs along her journey. Sign up to foster Oceana from afar below.

In exchange for any gift of $24 or more, you’ll receive a special digital postcard and a link to download a printable, foldable card. You can print the postcard for yourself to show off your foster dog or give the greeting card to a loved one as a gift to let them know that a grateful sato was fostered in their honor. We’ll also keep you in the loop of Oceana’s progress.  Just like an in-person foster, you’ll be among the first to know when she completes her vetting, flies to a new family, and has all her dreams come true.

OCEANA IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE TO FOSTER FROM AFAR - BUT THAT’S BECAUSE SHE HAS SOME EXCITING NEWS! IF YOU ARE ONE OF HER DONORS, BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR AN UPDATE COMING SOON TO YOUR EMAIL.
