Nica

Nica took her Freedom Flight on July 5th, 2020. Thank you to all of her Foster From Afar donors for helping us change her life forever.

Nica was the epitome of a #satostrong mum. She was found wandering in the streets the day after the largest earthquake shook Puerto Rico in over 100 years. She seemed confused and disoriented.  Two of our volunteers picked her up and brought her into our care. X-rays revealed that she was pregnant with a LOT of puppies. We were so grateful that we were able to rescue her just in time for her to give birth in safety. Sure enough, a few days later she gave birth to 13(!) babies. Sadly, two of them were stillborn, which is common in extremely large litters. The remaining eleven, however, were as healthy as can be. Nica turned out to be an amazing mother who never left their side.

We were determined to find her the loving family that she deserved, and that’s exactly what we were able to do thanks to your support. Nica’s family wanted a mellow girl who would befriend their current dog, and she fit the bill perfectly. Her entire family was there to welcome her with open arms after her Freedom Flight, and Nica is now BFF with her doggie sis. She loves snuggling up and watching movies with her new family in NJ, and Nica’s mom says that they ‘love her to pieces.’
