Lily

your support as a ‘foster from afar’ will help change this sato MUM’s forever.

Lily was found on Dead Dead Beach in Yabucoa, Puerto Rico. We could see she was full of milk and searched the surrounding area for her puppies. We hoped she would lead us to them; however, Lily was more interested in us and seemed happy to go wherever we went. After searching for several hours, we finally took Lily to our veterinary clinic, but made a plan to return to the beach and search for the puppies again the next day.  Upon intake at our vet’s office, Lily was given medication to stop her milk flow. If we did not address it, Lily was at risk of painful mastitis, which if untreated can cause gangrene, abscesses, or lead to a septic shock. Therefore, it was vital to do something immediately.

A few days later, as fate would have it, Lily’s puppies were finally found hiding under a bush in the nearby jungle. After being reunited we tried stopping Lily’s medication so she could return to safely feeding her puppies; however, she seemed to have already lost interest in feeding them. Fortunately, our team was happy to step in as co-parents to help with bottle feeding. We are just happy that we were able to bring the entire family to safety. Now, Lily and her puppies are all receiving the love and care they need.

Would you like to support this young sato mum and her family? In exchange for any gift of $24 or more, you’ll receive a special digital postcard and a link to download a printable, foldable card. You can print the postcard for yourself to show off your foster dog or give the greeting card to a loved one as a gift to let them know that a grateful sato was fostered in their honor. We’ll also keep you in the loop of Lily’s progress. Just like an in-person foster, you’ll be among the first to know when she finally completes her recovery, flies to a new family, and has all her dreams come true.
