Foster From Afar

Can a dog have more than one foster family?
Yes. A dog can have many foster families. We want our dogs to feel as loved as possible. Plus, food and boarding fees add up quickly. By having multiple foster families, a lucky sato will not only have even more people invested in their success, but they will get to have more of their medical and boarding expenses covered.

What will my donation be used for?
Your donation will be used to support medical expenses, food, shelter, and veterinary fees of your chosen foster dog and our overall rescue efforts for the dogs of Puerto Rico.

Will dogs without fosters still receive the care they need?
Absolutely. All of our dogs will be cared for, regardless of virtual foster status. While you will only receive a digital postcard and updates on your chosen foster dog, all gifts will be used to support the care of all our dogs. We think your chosen sato would agree that sharing the love equally is best for everyone.

After my donation, what will I receive about my virtual foster dog?
After signing up to foster a dog from afar, you will immediately receive an automatic email confirming your donation. Shortly afterward, you will receive a second email with your digital postcard. The digital postcard includes a short message and a photo of your dog. We encourage you to print this postcard and display it proudly so you can think of your dog every day and send them some love. You will also receive email updates on your dog as they achieve their next milestones: when they take their Freedom Flight and when they meet their forever family.

Are these dogs available for adoption?
Most of these satos are available for adoption, while some of them already have approved forever families waiting for them on the mainland. For the latest adoption status on any one of these dogs, please contact our adoption team at adoption@thesatoproject.org.

What if I have more questions?
